Chinese trucks hold 27.6% of the Russian market — the after-sales lesson for Nigerian buyers

An industry review published in March 2026 examined how Chinese truck brands actually support their vehicles in Russia — a market where they have gone from newcomers to holding 27.6% of truck sales in the first half of 2025. Sinotruk led that group with 14.2%, ahead of FAW at 7.1% and Dongfeng at 4.4%.
The interesting part is not the market share. It is what the review found when it looked past the sales figures at the service networks.
What a serious support network looks like
Sinotruk was assessed as having the most balanced coverage of the Chinese brands, built on a few concrete things:
- 485 cross-border service stations along the main transport corridors, under a central warehouse plus authorised station model.
- 24/7 service response.
- Three training academies — two in Moscow, one in Vladivostok — dedicated to training technicians on SITRAK and HOWO vehicles.
- Warranty terms written by vehicle duty: 12 months full cover and 24 months unlimited-mileage powertrain cover on construction vehicles such as tippers and mixers; 24 months full and 36 months powertrain on long-haul units.
The review was candid that gaps remain against European brands, particularly in parts depth and regional consistency. That honesty is worth more than the praise.
The part that transfers directly to Nigeria
Notice what makes that network work: trained technicians and a stocked central warehouse. Not marketing. Every operator who has been stuck knows the failure mode — the truck is fine, the part is three weeks away, and the vehicle earns nothing in the meantime.
This is exactly why we refuse to sell equipment we cannot service. Our warehouse carries high-demand components for the brands we sell, and our workshops run diagnostics-led servicing rather than guesswork. A truck parked waiting for a part costs more per week than the part ever did.
Three questions before you sign
Whatever brand you are considering, and whoever is selling it, ask these:
- Where is the nearest workshop that has opened this exact engine before?
- What is on their parts shelf today — not what can be ordered?
- Who trained the technicians, and when?
If a seller cannot answer all three, the discount they are offering is not a discount. It is a deferred cost.

Frequently asked
- What warranty comes with a SINOTRUK truck?
- It varies by market and vehicle type. In the Russian market reviewed here, construction vehicles such as tippers and mixers carry 12 months full cover with 24 months unlimited-mileage powertrain cover, and long-haul vehicles 24 months full with 36 months on the powertrain. Ask us for the exact terms attached to the unit you are buying — we will put them in writing.
- How do I judge a truck brand's after-sales support before I buy?
- Ask three questions: where is the nearest workshop that has actually opened this engine, what is on their parts shelf today, and who trained their technicians. Vague answers to any of the three tell you what ownership will feel like in year three.
