Sinotruk delivers its first 30 electric HOWO TX7 mixer trucks — what it signals for Nigeria

On 15 May 2026 in Hangzhou, Sinotruk signed a strategic agreement for 100 fully electric HOWO TX7 concrete mixer trucks and handed over the first batch of 30. It is one of the largest single orders yet for an electric mixer, and it tells you something useful even if you are running a fleet four thousand miles away in Abia or Ogun.

The numbers that matter

The electric TX7 is not a compromised city truck. Sinotruk quotes peak power of 490kW and maximum torque of 2,800Nm, on a chassis derived from the same MAN technology and high-strength double-layer frame used across the TX range. The battery pack is rated beyond 4,500 charge cycles, with thermal management specified to keep working from -35°C to 45°C.

Put plainly: this is a mixer chassis that will climb a loaded site ramp, and the drivetrain is not the weak point. That was not true of electric heavy trucks five years ago.

What it means for a Nigerian operator

Very little, immediately — and we would rather say that than sell you a headline. An electric mixer needs reliable depot charging, and the great majority of Nigerian concrete operations do not have it. Grid supply, not the truck, is the constraint.

What it does tell you is where the platform is heading. The TX7 mixer is the same chassis family we supply and service in Nigeria today, and Sinotruk is now investing its newest drivetrain engineering into it. A range that keeps getting development money is a range whose parts, tooling and technical support will still be there in ten years. That is the part of this announcement worth acting on.

What we would put on your site today

For Nigerian concrete work we still spec the diesel TX7 mixer, and increasingly the CNG conversion where a gas supply is within reach of the depot. CNG cuts running cost and emissions now, on infrastructure that actually exists here, and it does it without asking you to gamble on a charging point that has not been built.

When depot charging becomes realistic for your operation, the truck is ready. Until then, we will spec what earns.
